A world class racing experience for kids is coming to one of Minnesota’s finest parks; Lake Elmo Park Reserve in Lake Elmo, MN. The inaugural BreakAway Kids Tri on Saturday, August 23rd, 2014 is an adventure-based triathlon that will have all the elements of a traditional swim, bike, run race along with adventure elements that will have kids maneuvering through incredible obstacles and challenges along the way.
This new adventure based triathlon is being organized by the same team who previously created and led the world’s largest fundraising triathlon for kids. This race organization / new Minnesota-based 501c3 non-profit group is now known as CycleHealth.

Organizers anticipate a race field of 800 kids, ages 7-17, which will have the park full and alive with the spirit of adventure.
The Lake Elmo Park Reserve is just minutes from Woodbury, MN and is the perfect spot for the BreakAway Kids Tri. Besides its more than 2,100 acres of natural beauty, it also boasts the country’s largest man-made chlorinated swimming pond.
Kids Ages 7-9 will Swim 100 yards, Bike 2.5 miles and Run 1/2 mile. Kids Ages 10-12 will Swim 200 yards, Bike 5 miles and Run 3/4 mile. Teens 13-17 will Swim 300 yards, Bike 7.5 miles and Run 1 mile.
Registration for the BreakAway Kids Tri will open soon or for sure by May 1st. Volunteer registration will open at the same time.
Each of the CycleHealth events will have a charity partner. As kids train for their events, they are invited to fundraise to make a specific impact for the selected charity partner picked via the Kid Advisory Panel.
