Chicago to Host ITU World Triathlon Series Events in 2014 & 2015
The International Triathlon Union has announced that Chicago will be the new U.S. host city for ITU World Triathlon Series events in 2014 and 2015. The event in 2014 will prepare the city to host the prestigious World Triathlon Series Grand Final in 2015. The event is moving from San Diego which has been the host city for the event over the last two years.
"We are thrilled to bring the championship final of our World Triathlon Series to Chicago, which has a strong history of hosting world class sporting events," ITU President and IOC Member Marisol Casado said. "USA Triathlon has also been active in organising several World Triathlon Series races in the last several years. We are confident their combined experience will produce an excellent World Championship event."
The 2015 event will mark the first time the United States has hosted the Grand Final elite races in nearly 20 years.

Mont-Tremblant Hosting the 2014 Ironman 70.3 World Championship
The World Triathlon Corporation has announced that it has chosen Mont-Tremblant, Québec, Canada to host the 2014 Ironman 70.3 World Championship triathlon. The championship race will take place on September 7, 2014 and marks the first time the event takes place outside of the United States. It’s also the first time a single location will host three major Ironman events; Ironman Mont-Tremblant, Ironman 70.3 Mont-Tremblant and now the Ironman 70.3 World Championship.
“The choice of Mont-Tremblant as the host venue for the 2014 Ironman 70.3 World Championship was an obvious one given the success of the inaugural Ironman events held here in 2012,” said Andrew Messick, Chief Executive Officer of IRONMAN. “We are confident that Mont-Tremblant and the province of Québec will be the ideal hosts for the first IRONMAN World Championship event to be held outside of the United States.”
Starting in 2014, the Ironman 70.3 World Championships triathlono event will take place at rotating locations across the globe.
This will be the 3rd venue to host the prestigious Ironman 70.3 World Championship. The event was fist hosted in Clearwater, Florida for 5-years and then moved to Henderson, Nevada. 2013 will be the last time the event takes place near Las Vegas before heading to it's new, temporary, one-year location in Mont-Tremblant.

Revolution3 Triathlon Adds New Pocono Mountains Event in 2014
Revolution 3 expands their 2014 race line-up with a new September 12-14 REV3 Pocono Mountains event. The weekend is nestled at the magnificent Shawnee Inn, a historic lodge established in the early 1900′s. The Shawnee Inn is entirely for Rev3 athletes and families, and T2, expo, and finish line are all on the grounds of Shawnee Inn.

Challenge Family Re-Enters Australian Market with 3 New Events
Challenge Family has announced its return to the Australian triathlon scene with three new Challenge Half events being added to their worldwide series.
Challenge Melbourne, Challenge Forster and Challenge Bateman's Bay will spearhead the Challenge Family's return to Australia. All three Challenge Half distance events will consist of a 1.9km swim, a 90km cycle and a 21.1km.
The addition of the Australian races brings the number of Challenge Family events around the world to 21.

New York's Coney Island to Host the Brooklyn Triathlon

Pacific Sports LLC, announced plans for the inaugural Brooklyn Triathlon set to take place in historic Coney Island on Sunday, November 10, 2013.
The triathlon event will feature Sprint and Olympic distance races for age group categories starting at 14 years old to 80+, as well as Clydesdale (200+ lbs.) men and Athena women (145+ lbs.). There will also be an elite amateur division, which requires a race resume be submitted to the race director.
The swim-bike-run route starts on an L-shaped course in the Atlantic Ocean at Coney Island Beach and Raritan Bay, then cycles through the heart of Brooklyn, racing portions of Surf Ave, Ocean Pkwy., Neptune Ave. and Shell Rd., and finishes on the famous Riegelmann Boardwalk near the home of the Brooklyn Cyclones' MCU Park after a run through the iconic "People's Playground" of Coney Island.

Belman, New Belgian Full Distance Triathlon Championship

Robertville, Belgium will host to a new full distance triathlon late this summer, the Belman International Triathlon. The event will also serve as the Belgian Full Distance Triathlon Championship on September 1, 2013. Robertville is on the Eastern side of Belgium, next to Germany and is about 68km from Liege and 112km from Cologne, Germany.
The triathlon event will feature the standard distances: a 3.8km swim, 180km bike and a 42.195km run. Athletes can participate individually or as a relay team composed of three athletes.
This is the only full iron distance triathlon event in the country.

DelMoSports, Lower Township and the Delaware River and Bay Authority have announced the inaugural Escape the Cape Triathlon & Aquabike event set to take place along the Jersey Shore on June 2, 2013. The exciting twist for athletes will be the start aboard a Cape May - Lewes Ferry vessel in the Delaware Bay.
Athletes will board the ferry and journey out into the Delaware Bay where they will jump off into the waters to begin the race. The event will consist of three separate races taking place simultaneously. The Sprint Triathlon consists of a .35 mile swim, 10 mile bike, and 5km run. The International Triathlon will consist of a 1 mile swim, 20 mile bike, and 5 mile run, and the International Aquabike consisting of a 1 mile swim and 20 mile bike only.

Ironman Race Returns to Japan with New Ironman Japan Event
After nearly a 3-year hiatus, Ironman racing in Asia and Japan is set to start a new chapter. The World Triathlon Corporation has annouced that Ironman Japan is set to return and settle down in a new location on Hokkaido Island in Northern Japan starting in 2013.

The 3.8km swim would be in Lake Toya which has been ranked one of the cleanest lakes in Japan. The 180km bike leg would contain a mix of hills, rollers and flats, taking in some world class cycling roads. After mounting the bikes competitors will do 30km flat partial loop around the Lake and then onto a sharp climb out of the lake area and into the rural Hokkaido roads that cyclists travel from all over the world for. The 42km run leg would be out and back course beside the lake, that is completely flat and mostly on the road.
Ironman Japan will be the first qualifier for the 2014 Ironman World Championships race and will have 50 age group qualifying slots for Kona. Professional athletes will be competing for a prize purse of $25,000.

Life Time Tri Oceanside will start with a 1.5-kilometer swim in the waters of Oceanside Harbor, which has an average water temperature of 63-65 degrees in late October. Athletes will enjoy an ocean front transition before starting a 40-kilometer bike course along the San Luis Rey Mission Expressway. The 10-kilometer run course follows white, sandy beaches allowing for a spectator-fueled finish adjacent at the historic Oceanside Pier. To keep Life Time Tri Oceanside accessible to athletes with a concentration on short course format, as well as beginner athletes, the event also will feature a shorter sprint distance race.
