Challenge Penticton Adds Olympic Distance Race

A new race date for Challenge Penticton as well as the addition of an Olympic distance triathlon is what athletes can expect from this year’s race in Penticton, BC, Canada.  The 2017 triathlon event moves to Sunday, July 23rd, 2017.  The Challenge Half triathlon will take place on much of the 2017 Long Distance Worlds Course, giving athletes an unparalleled opportunity to train on a course used in a World Championships 6 weeks later.

Athletes will swim in the pristine waters of Okanagan Lake, bike through vineyards, farmland and lakes and run along the Okanagan River to the finish line in Penticton.

Those not up to conquer the Half-iron distance triathlon event can still participate on the scenic course with the newly added Olympic distance event that will take place in tandem with the Half.  Athletes will Swim 1.5km; Bike 45km Run 10.5km on the same course.

An Aquabike event is also available to athletes.  Enjoy a 1.9km Swim in Okanagan Lake followed by a 90km Bike through wine country.

Professional and/or Elite triathletes can compete for CAD$15,000.00 in prize money, split equally to men and women, across the the top 5 athletes.
