Des Moines Triathlon Replaces Hy-Vee Triathlon in Iowa’s Capitol

Des Moines TriathlonTriathletes in the Midwest Region and across the U.S. rejoice as Premier Event Management replaces the old Hy-Vee Triathlon in Iowa’s capitol city with the new Des Moines Triathlon.

The tradition was started in June of 2007 with the inaugural running of the Hy-Vee Triathlon! The triathlon world recognized in a very short time that the standards set forth by Hy-Vee were unlike anything in the sport. From the massive prize structure, to the World and Olympic Champions, to its attention to detail, the Hy-Vee Triathlon will forever stand as a legacy to the food store giant and the city of Des Moines.

The rigorous standards and exciting action established in June of 2007 remain true and alive for the athletes with the inaugural running of the Des Moines Triathlon.  The Des Moines Triathlon is set for Labor Day weekend. It will feature Olympic Distance and Sprint Distance events that will start at Gray’s Lake Park and will tentatively finish at the Iowa State Capitol on Sunday, September 6, 2015. We are very excited to see the legacy built by the Hy-Vee Triathlon continue with this inaugural running of the Des Moines Triathlon.

Triathlon: Des Moines Triathlon
When: Sunday, September 6, 2015
Where: Des Moines, Iowa, USA
Event(s): Olympic, Sprint
Website: www.tridesmoines.com

The event will offer athletes two different competition distances, a major change from the former event produced by Premier Event Management over the last 8 years. Many athletes want to participate, but find the longer Olympic distance is just a bit too far for their liking. The Des Moines Sprint Triathlon with its 400 meter swim, 20K bike and 5K run will be a perfect fit for the entry level athlete just looking to get into the sport.

$25,000 in Age Group Prizes will be up for grabs as part of the inaugural Capitol Cup.

Olympic Distance

• Top Five Overall Age Group Elite Finishers receive prizes valued at: $500, $400, $300, $250, $200
• Top Five Age Groupers in each age division receive prizes at: $250, $200, $150, $100, $50

Sprint Distance

• Top Three Overall Age Group Finishers receive: $250.00, $200.00, $100.00

Premier Event Management is proud to return to the Iowa State Capitol grounds for the inaugural running of the Des Moines Triathlon. “There’s no greater finish venue in the state of Iowa than the Iowa State Capitol. To climb the famous Walnut Street hill and finish on Finkbine under the golden dome of the state capitol building is unlike any other finish in the sport and it’s going to be our home for a very long time,” said Race Director Bill Burke.
