IRONMAN Rebrands Races in France

Ironman Vichy Races PromoIRONMAN has announced the acquisition of Optimum Sports Events, organizers of the Challenge Vichy triathlon and the Vichy Half Triathlon in France. The acquisition means both events will now become part of the IRONMAN European Tour. The Vichy Half Triathlon will become IRONMAN 70.3 Vichywith a race date of Saturday, August 29, 2015. The Challenge Vichy triathlon will be converted over to IRONMAN Vichy and will take place the next day on Sunday, August 30, 2015.

Vichy is located in central France, in the Auvergne region. It’s known throughout the world for its mineral waters, thermal baths and spas. It has grown into a triathlon hotspot hosting multiple triathlon events organized by Optimum Sports Events.

France will now be host four IRONMAN branded races. IRONMAN 70.3 Vichy will become the second IRONMAN 70.3 branded race in France, joining IRONMAN 70.3 Pays d’Aix in Aix en Provence on May 3, 2015. IRONMAN Vichy joins IRONMAN Nice on June 28, 2015, as the second full-distance race in France.

IRONMAN 70.3 Vichy will have 30 qualifying slots for the 2016 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Sunshine Coast, Australia. All athletes that had registered for the Vichy Half Triathlon are now registered for IRONMAN 70.3 Vichy. More information about IRONMAN 70.3 Vichy can be found at

The 2015 IRONMAN Vichy will have 50 qualifying slots to the 2016 IRONMAN World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i. Professional athletes will compete for 2,000 Kona Pro Ranking points as well as a total prize purse of $25,000 USD.
