A new independent, iron distance triathlon has been launched in the United Kingdom, the Lakesman Triathlon. The inaugural race is set to take place on June 19, 2016 in Keswick, Cumbria in the North West England region. The event is the culmination of three years hard work by the organizers and partners to bring, for the first time, an opportunity to race a long distance triathlon in the heart of the English Lake District.
The grueling challenge is being launched now to ensure participants can reach perfect fitness by next summer.

Where: Keswick, Cumbria, England
When: Sunday, June 19, 2016
Divisions: Age Group, Relay
For the very first time triathletes have the opportunity to race a long distance triathlon in the heart of the English Lake District, all on road and with a minimum of elevation. No mountain passes to climb or off-road running shoes required!
The triathlon event will be based in Keswick, with a transition area at The Theatre by the Lake. The swim will be held in the crystal clear waters of Derwentwater, which is generally regarded as one of the Lake Districts most scenic lakes.
The race will consist of a 2.4mi Swim in Derwentwater. Athletes will then take on the 1-loop, 112mi bike course which traverses its way to the west coast of Cumbria where competitors get to experience a side of the lakes often unvisited by tourists, with mountains on one side and the sea on the other. After the bike athlete will take on the 26.2mi, 4-loop run course between Keswick and Portinscale. Athletes will have the opportunity of running through the superb countryside with views of Skiddaw as well as a spectator friendly section through Keswick town center.
Organizers have designed the Lakesman Triathlon to provide a truly memorable triathlon experience and to appeal to both the experienced or novice endurance athletes.
